I am a balloonist (since 1985) and also a Ham (since 1990.) My call is N7TUP, though if it goes through its in the process of getting changed to N7HAB. I don't have any reason to think it won't get changed, just waiting for the feds to get it done.
How old are you or were you when you got your license? I was 14 for my student and 16 for private.
I will have to look and see if there are any IRLP nodes out your way. Where in Ireland are you? If you go to
http://www.ipass.net/~jimprice/irlp/eumap.html you will see that there are IRLP nodes in Scotland and northern England.. I don't know the geography over there very well, any chance you might be able to get into any of them?? If you could we could QSO over IRLP..
