It would be best for you to have an airplane private pilot certificate before you tackle balloons. After that, two part 141 schools in your area:

Does anyone have any recommendation (either positive or negative) on any Balloon Flight Schools in the San Francisco Bay Area?

I have a private-glider certificate, which I suspect is as good as anything as far as balloons are concerned. I figure after balloons I'll work on a gyro rating (after that helicopters
